Gulf rivals said to be in takeover talks Today's News

Emirates is looking to acquire Etihad, according to a Bloomberg report which cites four unnamed sources "familiar with the matter".

According to Bloomberg, both airlines initially declined to comment, but later denied any talks were under way.

Should the acquisition go through, it would result in the airlines’ operations surpassing that of American Airlines Group, which has a market value of $19.2 billion (R275bn).
