IHG opens hotel in London’s theatre district Today's News

InterContinental Hotels and Resorts has opened the Hotel Indigo London – 1 Leicester Square, in the city’s theatre district.

The 95-room hotel takes inspiration from its surroundings, with three bedroom designs representing the different stages of creating a theatrical production. Scriptwriter Rooms are themed as a playwright’s study, using drafts of scripts framed as artworks; Backstage Rooms, styled as dressing rooms, have spotlights, ropes, and illuminated dressing room mirrors. Auditorium Rooms are, designed to capture the experience of a private theatre box. 

The hotel’s location is convenient for exploring Chinatown, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and Piccadilly Circus. It has views of The Shard, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, Nelson’s Column, the London Eye, and the Gherkin. Seven of the rooms have balconies and the rooftop restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows and a wraparound balcony.

There are 27 Hotel Indigo properties across Europe, with 17 due to open over the next three to five years, with upcoming openings in 2018 including Hotel Indigo London – Aldgate; Hotel Indigo Milan – Corso Monforte; Hotel Indigo Brighton; and Hotel Indigo Stratford-upon-Avon.
