Zambezi Cruise & Safaris, which operates a fleet of cruise boats linking both ends of Lake Kariba, has reported growing demand for new group tour routes linking Victoria Falls with Mana Pools, combining houseboat cruises with safari options.

As a result, the company is making additions to its fleet, and is launching new safari lodge options in Kariba and Binga in Zimbabwe, as well as organising all-inclusive, tailor-made cruise and safari itineraries for groups of ten or more.

New cruise boat options will include Nhingi, a high-end, exclusive four-cabin mono-hull cruiser, and the ten-cabin Sovereign, which is undergoing refurbishment and is set to rejoin the fleet in August.

The current vessels, Umbohza (28 pax), Shikra (30 pax) and Karibezi (14 pax) have all undergone soft refurbishments and are now moored at Marineland Harbour in Kariba.

The company has set departures throughout 2018 and, for groups of ten or more visitors wishing to connect Kariba with Hwange or Victoria Falls, Zambezi Cruise & Safaris will tailor-make an itinerary to suit their requirements, including transfers and running the trip from start to finish.

In Binga, at the western end of Lake Kariba, Masumu River Lodge welcomes international visitors from Victoria Falls linking to the company’s Lake Kariba cruises. Currently, the hilltop lodge is having its self-catering units converted to lodges.

In the town of Kariba at the eastern end of the lake, the new Kariba Safari Lodge, with 17 chalets, and the 13-room Crowned Eagle Boutique Hotel in the Mica point area overlooking the lake, are set to open in May. The locations provide new conferencing and corporate venues within easy reach of the capital, Harare.
