Zambia mulls travel restrictions Today's News

Following the cholera outbreak in Zambia in October, officials have now imposed a curfew, ordering residents to stay indoors from 18h00. Officials are also considering imposing travel restrictions later this week to prevent the spread of the disease.

The travel restrictions will focus on travel in and out of the capital, Lusaka. Meanwhile, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued an alert stating that over 2 000 cases of cholera have been reported in Lusaka in the last three months.

The FCO is advising travellers to follow the National Travel Health Network and Centre’s advice to reduce risk of the infection. These tips can be found on the National Travel Health Network and Centre’s website.
