Malaysia Airlines has taken delivery of the first of six A350-900s it will lease from Air Lease Corporation, says Breaking Travel News.

The new aircraft will operate on the Kuala Lumpur-London route from the first quarter of 2018 and will be configured in three cabin classes – four seats in first class; 35 in business class; and 247 seats in economy class. Malaysia Airlines is the first airline to offer a first-class cabin on the A350-900.

Captain Izham Ismail, Malaysia Airlines chief executive, said: “With its technological advancements the A350-900 is an important milestone for us, helping boost our competitiveness on our long-haul flights. The addition of the A350-900 underlines our commitment to operate a young and modern fleet.”

The A350 extra-wide-body has the latest aerodynamic design, carbon-fibre fuselage and wings as well as the new fuel-efficient Rolls Royce engines, resulting in a 25% reduction in fuel burn and emissions and significantly lower maintenance costs.
