Better links and bridges are being built to improve the access to, travel into, out of and around Sandton Central, Johannesburg. Three new bridges will connect Sandton Central with different communities and improve transportation.

Over 10 000 people walk between neighbouring Alexandra and Sandton Central every day, therefore The City of Johannesburg is bringing public transport that is safe, affordable and reliable to the people of Alexandra and Sandton, the Sandton Central Management District said in a statement.

“Ensuring that people can easily come to work, visit, stay, shop or be entertained in Sandton Central is something we take seriously,” says Elaine Jack, city improvement district manager of the Sandton Central Management District (SCMD).

The new bridges aim to make walking and cycling easier, safer and more convenient. The three bridges being built in Sandton include the Marlboro Rea Vaya bus and pedestrian bridge, the Grayston pedestrian cyclist bridge, and the Zandspruit bridge – each to be completed later this year.
